The Steelers 31-17 loss at the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card round was predictable the moment the Titans knocked off the Jaguars in Week 18 to get Pittsburgh in the playoffs.
The three-game winning streak that got them to 10-7, giving Mike Tomlin yet another non-losing season as head coach doesn’t matter. It’s another season in which the Steelers were mediocre, got into the playoffs with some luck and wasted our time posting another loss in the Wild Card.
As long as they don’t post a losing record, the Steelers as a whole won’t change anything. Tomlin, despite his ability to finish .500 or better, has gone stale in Pittsburgh. It’s doesn’t mean he’s not a good coach, but like Bill Belichick and the Patriots, perhaps a change of scenery should be considered.
Maybe Tomlin thought about it when he darted out of his postgame press conference when asked about his contract…
That moment will make for some great sports talk the rest of the week.
